Should My Child Get a Filling on Their Baby Tooth?

Cavities are caused by bacteria that eat away at the tooth, and if that baby tooth still has a long time before falling out, that bacteria could spread! Bringing your child to the dentist to get their cavity cleaned and filled can prevent the bacteria from spreading to the permanent tooth below their baby tooth. You wouldn’t want a brand new tooth to grow in, only to find out that it has started to decay!

At Iconic Smiles, our specialty is teeth. When your child’s first baby tooth begins poking through they are ready to come see us! It is often recommended that children go to their first dentist appointment once their first baby tooth has emerged, or when they have turned one year old, whichever comes first.
