Common Questions about Clear Aligners
Can I eat normally with clear aligners?
Because clear aligners are removed for eating and brushing, you won’t have restrictions on your diet. Unlike braces, which cannot be removed, you don’t have to worry about staining or breaking your aligners with certain foods!
How do clear aligners work?
We’ll get an impression of your current smile and use state-of-the-art technology to prepare multiple sets of clear aligners, with each moving your teeth closer to your end goal. Every two weeks you’ll move to the next set of aligners. The change is gradual but effective!
What are retainers? How long do I wear them?
Retainers can be similar in appearance to clear aligners, but instead of moving your teeth, they keep them stationary. Once you’ve moved your teeth with clear aligners, the retainers will be worn all day and night for a month or so. Then you’ll need to wear them at night indefinitely so your teeth don’t shift back to their old positions.
Can I speed up the treatment?
While you might be eager to get your dream smile, we recommend that you stick with the schedule created by Dr. Avezoff. Moving to the next set of clear aligners too early can risk causing permanent damage to your teeth and mouth! You’ll meet with Dr. Avezoff throughout the treatment to make sure your teeth are moving properly and that your oral health is still in great shape.
